Medical Laboratory Technician

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

North Mara Gold Mine Limited is seeking to recruit one Medical Laboratory Technician to join OHS team. The successful candidate for this position will provide Clinic laboratory response advice to the NMGM operations to ensure that company objectives and legislative compliances are met at the required work performance standard and in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Reporting to: First Line Leader – Occupational Health and Medical.

Contract Duration: Permanent

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain registration to practice in Tanzania as Laboratory Technician.
  • Perform basic laboratory tests, as per equipment provided at NMGM for general, medical check-up and occupational health programs as directed by clinic Doctor.
  • Provide supportive laboratory services on an emergency basis to the local community, as directed by and to the level permitted by the NMGM Medical Doctor.
  • Provide accurate laboratory results.
  • Maintains a record for checking equipment and maintains equipment according to manufacturer’s standards.
  • Responsible for knowing how to use and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Record daily, weekly & monthly statistics.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Tanzanian OHS regulations and corporate codes of practice.
  • Responsible for the safe handling and disposal of all specimens and equipment used in testing those specimens.
  • Prepare and submit a monthly report containing accurate information about laboratory equipment.
  • Secures all documentation in a safe environment. Has signed a non-disclosure clause.
  • Performs similar duties as assigned by the manager.
  • To operate and maintain highest level Biochemical medical equipment like Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and ability to collect and analyse samples as per provided guidelines.
  • Maintain al medical protocols including confidentiality of the Patient’s medical information.
  • To maintain highest standard of laboratory sterilization procedures and ensure constant use of Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Prepare and submit a monthly report containing accurate information about laboratory equipment.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fully qualified to practice as a Laboratory Technician (Diploma) in Tanzania through the government approval process.
  • Graduated from a recognized medical institution providing Academy-level or better laboratory training.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • A working experience as laboratory technician for at least 3 years.
  • Computer literate, MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS.
  • Knowledge of Tanzanian customs and legal process.
  • Excellent knowledge in all aspects of Laboratory practice and demonstrate technical ability to operate Laboratory medical equipment.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

Senior Exploration Geologist (2 Posts)

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Barrick Gold Corporation seeks to employ 2 Senior Exploration Geologists to work with the Exploration Department in Bulyanhulu at North Mara Mines, Tanzania (1 role in each). The roles will report to the Exploration Manager and will be accountable to help execute the exploration programs, provide leadership, strategy and systems that delivers optimal evaluation and development of potential resources in our existing mines and regional targets. Manage the addition of more ounces of gold to inventory and Mineral Resource through discovery of additional resources around mines and via Brownfield programs utilizing efficient and effective budgets. Ensure on time delivery of geological inputs into Mine Planning and Operations functions. Assist as required in programs to develop geological skills for future operations.

Reporting to: Exploration Manager

Duration: Permanent

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under the supervision of the exploration manager execute exploration programs, including but not limited to mapping, soil sampling, drill rig supervision, core logging, manage field logistics, collect geological data, and evaluate results on a daily basis in a safe and cost-effective manner
  • Participate in exploration program planning to ensure that programs are designed considering alternative options, costs, target rankings and are in line with Life of Mine strategy
  • Participate in reducing overall exploration costs through effective management, option analysis, minimizing delay times, control of consumables etc
  • Develop detailed documentation to justify proposed exploration programs in order to support Capital applications and Budgets
  • Ensure data capture is subjected to rigorous quality control
  • Ensuring high quality synthesis maps and presentation are established on all key projects with a focus of geological context in time.
  • Develop regional-, target-, and deposit-scale geological models as exploration progresses (lithology, structure, alteration, and mineralization)
  • Brownfields opportunities are reviewed / updated, ranked and staged programs defined, scheduled and cost accounted. Justification presented to Exploration Manager for consideration
  • Drilling programs progress as planned in a safe manner with holes drilled and logged at planned cost. Progress and results are communicated to management in timely fashion
  • Ensure lithological and structure wireframes / models are continually updated with new data
  • Ensure optimal drilling schedule is adhered to and deliver priority targets in timely manner to deliver datasets for Mineral Resource updates in line with the Mine Planning cycle. The incumbent will also be required to evaluate sections maps and plans for the drilling programs.
  • High degree of interaction with other leaders (removing silos between teams)
  • Provide technical leadership for the exploration team including review, development and maintenance of best practice technical exploration systems and protocols;
  • In collaboration with the Exploration Manager will ensure technical coaching for professional development purposes and a proactive mentorship of junior staff. Identify high performers and align for advancement
  • Be proactive in approaching and building teamwork with Department Team Members
  • Assist Exploration Manager with all reporting requirements to government and all other stakeholders to be concise, effective & delivered on schedule
  • Ensure Exploration Department members and associated contractors had Zero LTIs. Increased focus on reporting and investigation of high potential incidents
  • Immediate stoppage of unsafe behaviors. Proactive in sending safety messages, safety alerts, interactions with teams and participating in safety meetings. FLRA conducted at all work places without fail
  • Ensure working in corruption free environment
  • Zero Reputational damaging incidents;

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum bachelor’s degree in Geology or Earth Science; however, a post-graduate degree would be an asset.
  • Member of the SEG or equivalent

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in mineral exploration
  • Experience in managing exploration data/drilling programs
  • An ability to think across-scales and to integrate diverse, large datasets
  • Experience developing geological models at both the deposit- and regional-belt scales

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Solid knowledge of Intrusion Related / Archean and/or Paleoproterozoic gold deposit models
  • Regional-scale targeting and exploration experience
  • An excellent understanding of geological settings, deposit models, and ore-forming processes as it pertains to the latest concepts of gold deposit environments.

Technical and Capital Officer

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

North Mara Gold Mine Limited is seeking to recruit one Technical and Capital Officer to join Supply Chain team. The Successful candidate for this position will ensure that all mine purchases meet the necessary technical specifications and quality, identify, recommend source of supply for stock, non-stock and capital items, advise supply chain team related to all technical requirements and to ensure that company objectives and legislative compliances are met at the required work performance standard and in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Reporting to: Warehouse Superintendent

Contract Duration: Permanent

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and manage demand plan for capital material and equipment requirement, in collaboration with the capital team by project.
  • Evaluate all once off engineering/capital item RFQs to ensure that there is no similar item and to establish if it should be a stock item.
  • Evaluate RFQs raised by end users for once off items and identify source.
  • Interact with potential suppliers to correctly specify the item and finalize the item specification through and iterative process with the supplier/s.
  • Document all necessary information (refer to item creation Procedure) that will clearly define the specification for the buying house with the recommended supplier.
  • Ensure the appropriate evaluation of a new supplier has taken place prior placing the RFQ with the Supply Partner.
  • Expedite all non-stock technical items and ensure appropriate quality control.
  • Undertake review role for all changes proposed to existing stock items or new items by end users to ensure that there is a cost benefit and that there is a phase out plan.
  • On receipt of once off engineering/capital items ensure that the item complies with specification and release for to the end user.
  • Investigate all non-conformances relating to Engineering and Capital items (whether stock or once off), and ensure corrective action is taken.
  • Maintain all information related to the non-stock items on the ERP system.
  • Advise on proper long-term maintenance procedures for technical stock items.
  • Audit items in capital yard.
  • Ensure quality control is applied for all items when purchased by purchasing department.
  • All critical, strategic and insurance items to be identified and physically checked that it comply and is operational and stored correctly in the warehouse.
  • Daily site clarifications with the buyers.
  • Assist all Engineering staff on spares issues from Supply Chain.
  • Check all new items arriving and make a mental note on critical spares arrived.
  • Check the 0 in stock items and push the buyers for the ETA to site.
  • Address discrepancy in time with TCL.
  • Go through the MRP with Inventory control team and give comments if needed.
  • Do master data clean-up specially in the basic text for more information.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent relevant trade qualification from a recognized institution.
  • A Mechanical Trade Certification is highly desired.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Qualified artisan with at least 10 years’ experience in a mining or related environment.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Ability to prioritize work on own initiative.
  • Networking skills.
  • Understanding of maintenance management systems.
  • Able to identify which items is critical and should be-kept by using his technical experience.
  • Technical knowledge of process plant equipment, U/G mining equipment and HME mobile equipment.
  • Technical qualifications in mechanical and electrical fields and have to have a few years working experience in Goldmines.
