Neymar 'willing to publicly apologise to Barcelona fans for leaving'

Neymar is reportedly willing to make a public apology to Barcelona supporters in a bid to secure his return to the Nou Camp this summer.

The Brazilian forward is hoping to leave Paris Saint-Germain in this transfer window, just two years after he swapped Barcelona for the French capital in a world-record £198million move.

The transfer left a bitter taste in the mouth of some Barca supporters and now Neymar is ready to rebuild bridges by apologising for his departure, according to Spanish paper Sport.

In the report, it's claimed Neymar was carried away by the eye-watering money on offer at the Ligue 1 club, as well as the chance to lead their revolution.

But following two last-16 exits in the Champions League, the Brazilian has reportedly concluded that PSG are some way off competing with Europe's elite.

So in order to seal a return to Catalonia, Neymar is now believed to be willing to publicly admit he made a mistake by leaving, as he has done in private to some of his former team-mates.

It seems he would be welcomed back with open arms by the current Barcelona squad, with both Arthur and Philippe Coutinho recently talking up his potential return.

But among PSG's star-studded squad, there is a clamour to keep the Brazilian.

'I hope (Neymar will stay),' defender Marquinhos told L'Equipe. 'He is important.

'It's difficult to sign a player like that in your club. It's also difficult to keep him, but I hope he will continue with us.

'Beyond being an important player, he's also a friend, a guy I love. I really hope he stays.'
