The survey that sampled 7000 British women showed that most victims are aged between 16-24 and women in their 50s and 60s.

Doctors say that painful sex is not only caused by vaginal dryness, anxiety during sex, and lack of enjoyment of sex but different physical, psychological and emotional factors can cause the pain.

According to the researchers, painful sex can be complicated to treat but there is cure.

In some situations oestrogen creams and pessaries are used to solve the dryness problem and dilators to help with involuntary tightening of the vagina.

Women with problem are advised to seek medical attention as it is curable hence return the bed room fire before things fall apart
