- A research made by a University of California scientist affirms single people are happier
- The study also states they are richer than married people
- Around 47% of the U.S. population over 18 is single nowadays
A study by Bella DePaulo, Phd, a scientist at the University of California, Santa Barbara, is stating that single people are happier, as well as richer, than married people.

The American Psychological Association has stood by this investigation, which indicates that "the preoccupation with the perils of loneliness can obscure the profound benefits of solitude,” as Dr DePaulo puts it.

The studies performed on unmarried people showed that they have “a heightened sense of self-determination and they are more likely to experience a sense of continued growth and development as a person," the expert claims.
Apparently, single people also value meaningful work more than married ones, basically because they have more time to perform their jobs, which means more opportunities to earn more money.
Another study has also come to the conclusion that single people are more in touch with their parents, siblings, friends, neighbors, and coworkers.
Nevertheless, Dr. DePaulo maintains “there is no one blueprint for the good life.”
